The
Lions Club did it! They got their
first ever Easter Egg Hunt in, in between thunder storms. Yesterday, things were looking kind of
grim, dark, rainy, and windy. Today,
all they had to contend with was a little bit of wind. The sun was shining and the temperature warm. There was a nice turn out, and each of the
kids got a basketful of eggs. Four
extra lucky kids won great big baskets full of goodies when they found the
golden eggs. Two others won even more
candy when they guessed how many jelly beans and Sixlets were in their
respective containers. So,
congratulations to all and many thanks to those who joined the Lions for this
fun event. Special
thanks are due to the Pleasant Grove UMC for use of their grounds and to
Cindy Hanssen and Barb Nickel, who organized the whole event. On
a less pleasant note, Lion Marlene Littleton has been hospitalized for a GI complaint. She hopes to be home by Monday,
though. Wishing her all the best. |

Have
you ever moved away from an area and, years later, wanted to know what it
looks like today? You’re in luck. Click here. When you enter an address you will see a picture
of that place. There's a little map
with a little man on it - you can move the little man up and down the block
if you need to. Pretty cool, huh? |

Many thanks to Chuck Baumann for putting these slide shows
together. Hope you enjoy! |

A bit of background
information: some years ago, the
Association applied for and was granted permits to install signs at the
historical boundaries of Later on, two of the signs
were removed and never put back when So, we had to obtain
permission from some of our neighbors to place the signs on their properties
(well outside of the right-of-ways).
We appreciate their support!! We used the same plans as
before, so you might not notice a big difference in the signs that had not
been taken down. I thought I would
post this update, in case you noticed and wondered what was going on. Many thanks to Muttie
Fleener and Mark Swanson for getting this much-needed job done. |

We had a great time at the
Ice Cream Social today. Despite the
rain, which was with us off an on for the entire time, we had a good turn
out. Everyone seemed to enjoy
themselves. I will be posting some
pictures shortly, courtesy of Chuck Baumann (curator of the Home Place
Library-Museum). Special thanks go to
Home Place Area Lions Club, who co-sponsored the event along with the Greater
Home Place Neighborhood Association.
The firefighters of Station 45 were very kind and cordial to all of us,
even letting the kids climb into the fire trucks and look around. Speedy the Clown and his buddy, CheeChee
provided laughs and balloon animals for the kids. The entire Board of the Association worked
to bring this event to the folks of |

A little more information
about the landscaping at the intersection:
It was designed by and is being installed by Kevin Hughes of Rosie’s
(104th & College).
Thanks to the efforts of the Neighborhood Association and the Township
Trustee Doug Callahan for bringing this project to fruition. Still don’t know what is being planted
there. More later…. |

I drove through the
intersection at 106th and College today. Work is well underway to complete the
islands, there. There are several
trees and what looks like some decorative grass (I now that isn't what it’s
called, but I can’t think of the correct name right now.) I will try to find out what kind of trees
and what else is being planted there.
Not to mention who is doing the work.
It looks promising. |
